Community Guidelines

Last updated: October 17, 2026

da.place is for saving and sharing places. These rules apply to everything on da.place, from places, notes and photos to lists, profiles and usernames, whether it is private, shared with a few people, public in the app or published on the web. They are part of our Terms of Service.

1. The short version

Share the places you would want a friend to find. Be accurate, respect people and their privacy, and follow the law. There is no tolerance here for objectionable content or abusive behaviour: we remove it, and we may close the accounts behind it.

2. What is not allowed

  • Anything illegal, or helping someone do something illegal, such as offering illegal goods or services.
  • Child sexual abuse material, or anything that sexualises children. We remove it, close the account and report it to the authorities.
  • Sexual content and nudity.
  • Violence and threats: threatening anyone, encouraging violence or self-harm, praising violent attacks, or terrorist content.
  • Harassment and bullying, including sharing lists with someone or sending them invites to pester them.
  • Hate: attacking people for who they are, for example their ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
  • Private information: a private person's home, address, phone number or anything else that shows where they live or can be found, without their consent; and places that would put people in danger if they were known, such as shelters.
  • Dangerous places and acts: encouraging people to trespass, break local rules or put themselves or others in danger.
  • Spam and deception: fake places, misleading lists, scams, advertising spam, and accounts or lists made in bulk.
  • Impersonation: pretending to be another person or an organisation.
  • Other people's work: photos and texts you have no right to share (our Copyright Policy).
  • Abusing da.place: automated access, collecting data in bulk, getting round limits, or malicious links.

3. People in your photos

Show people only if they don't mind. Don't post photos of recognisable people in private situations without their consent, and remove a photo if someone in it asks you to.

4. How to report something

  • In the app, signed in: open the menu of a list and tap Report list (the menu of a place in it reports its list), or open a person's profile menu and tap Report. Choose a reason, such as Spam or misleading, Inappropriate content, or Copyright or stolen content, and add details if they help.
  • On the website: use the Report link at the bottom of a list or invite page. You don't need an account.
  • By email, to support@da.place: the link to the list page, or the list, the place and the username as the app shows them; what is wrong and why; your name and email address, unless your report is about child sexual abuse; and that you believe your report is accurate and made in good faith.

The person whose list or profile you report is not told who reported it. One exception: a copyright notice sent by email may be passed, with your name, to the person who posted the content (our Copyright Policy). If someone is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number first.

5. What happens next

  • A person reviews every report, against the law and these rules. We aim to do so within a few days, and as soon as we see it for a threat to someone or anything involving children.
  • Depending on how serious it is, and whether it happened before, we may remove content or make it unavailable, for example take a list down, which hides it from everyone but its owner and switches off its web page and links; or suspend or close an account.
  • We tell the person whose content or account we act on what we did, why, and how to appeal, unless the law does not allow it or it would put someone at risk.
  • If we can reach you, we tell you what we decided.
  • If content suggests a threat to someone's life or safety, we tell the authorities.

6. Blocking

To block someone, tap Block @username in their profile menu, or in the menu of their list or invite. In the app, the person you block won't find you in search or open your profile. Neither of you can open the other's lists, share lists with the other, add the other's lists or places, or accept the other's invites, and the lists you held of each other's leave your libraries. Nothing either of you owns is deleted, and they aren't told.

Blocking works in the app. A list you published on the web, or an invite page of yours, can still be opened by anyone who has its link, including the person you blocked. Copies of lists and places made before the block stay with whoever made them, and the person you block can still report you. You can unblock someone in Settings → Blocked people; unblocking doesn't bring back the lists from before.

7. If you disagree with a decision

Write to support@da.place within six months of our message and tell us why. A person, not an automated system, looks at the case again, and we reverse the decision if it was wrong.

8. Repeated or serious violations

We close the accounts of people who seriously or repeatedly break these rules.
